My Instagram Reels Story: The Beginning
Have you ever wondered how someone starts making Instagram Reels? This is the first part of my story. I'll share how I began creating content on Instagram Reels. It's a simple beginning, so keep watching and enjoy!
Just Starting Out
I literally woke up, put on a shirt, and decided to talk about my Instagram Reels journey. I didn't plan much. It was just a spur-of-the-moment idea.
I know, I should have set everything up beforehand. I was a bit tired from doing exercises at home to keep in shape. People often tease me for being too skinny, so I'm trying to maintain my body. It's hard without the right food.
Diet is expensive these days. If I had enough money for a good diet, things would be different.
From Live Streams to Reels
I used to not do live streams. I am just now getting into it.
I am currently getting my education. It can be tough to balance everything. I am busy a lot!
Sitting for too long makes me restless. When I used to do live streams where I would sing, I could sit for longer.
I imagine the job I want. I want to move around a bit. Sitting in one place for 7 to 10 hours seems very hard. When I had a job before, the problem was that I was always sick.
My first job was in a training position. I felt pressured because I told them I was a content creator and showed them my videos. They gave me too much work. I had said I could do it, but I was in over my head. It was way beyond what I expected.
I had to make a change. I tried different things in small companies, like being a social media manager. I knew a little about it from watching videos, but they wanted someone with deep SEO knowledge. Deep SEO Requires Investment.
Learning SEO
I didn't know much about SEO back then. Now I know a bit more. I even thought about doing SEO for myself.
SEO is a big topic. It is a whole world, and paid SEO works best and gives faster results than free SEO If you are a business, brand, or content creator, you might need paid SEO for targeted marketing. I am planning to make a podcast about this soon.
The TikTok Days
Before Instagram Reels, there was TikTok. I will make videos about that time. There were many videos on TikTok, like the "Teri Pyaari Pyaari" trend or the joker face videos.
TikTok was full of these trends. I was amazed at how many times people would try the same thing. There were dance videos and comedy, but it was very competitive. TikTok was mainly about lip-sync videos.
Instagram now has lip-sync content, but it is not as common. These days, Instagram has more meme content. This type of content wasn't as popular during the TikTok era.
I used to make simple videos with animations. I didn't know how to make anything fancy. Back then, I thought I would never make TikTok videos. But I ended up making some.
I was in my first year of school. I didn't have much equipment. I just had a basic phone. It was a gift from my dad. I didn't realize I would want to make TikTok videos. The phone was only 64GB. It was too small.
I wanted a 128GB phone to explore making videos. I got some pushback from my family, but I wanted to experiment. My sister helped me since she knew a bit about TikTok. I used to ask her for tips.
I made videos based on whatever was trending on TikTok. I didn't know much. There were other platforms too, like Likee. These Chinese apps were popular in 2019 and early 2020.
A Funny Story
I remember asking my dad to help me make a TikTok video. He didn't know what I was doing. I was afraid I would get in trouble.
My dad was going to the fields. I thought it was a good scene for a video. He didn't understand. I told him to hold the phone while I did something. He agreed.
I showed him how to hold the phone. I said, "Three, two, one, go!" I set a 10-second timer. He just needed to act when the timer went off.
It took us three or four tries. He was a bit late. I was trying to make an action video where I did a flying kick in the air. I called it "Flying Kick In Air".
The End of TikTok, The Beginning of Reels
After TikTok got banned, I didn't make many videos. I didn't get many views on TikTok. I switched over to Instagram reels.
Then Instagram Reels came out in 2020. There were other platforms too, like Moj and MX TakaTak. I waited to see which ones would last.
Instagram Reels was new to me. I didn't know how to make Reels. But I knew how to make TikTok videos. Instagram was something new. I didn't try it much.
In 2021, during my semester, I promised myself I would try Instagram Reels. I started making dance videos. You can see them on my channel. There are about 16 parts. I ended up getting copyright issues.
I will tell you what happened next in the next part.
Want to start your own Reels Journey ? It all begins with taking that first step! That's it for today.
